✝️Are You Enough?
Stop Believing the Lies.
Good morning, my brothers! Ever feel like you’re not qualified to serve the Lord? Or that you don’t measure up, regardless of how hard you try? Me too, but God shows us a better way…His way. Let’s go! A 4-minute, 41-second read
Or listen to the audio version here:

Exactly the Right Guy
It took me about 50 years to finally become comfortable with who I am.
For decades, I was chasing a version of myself that didn’t exist.
I spent years trying to become the man I thought others expected me to be. My dad. Other people. And maybe the hardest one of all… I had expectations for myself that I could never quite live up to.
No matter what I achieved, it never felt like enough. There was always someone doing it better. Someone further ahead. Someone more successful, more respected, more put together.
And my failures drove the point home even more painfully.
I kept looking to my right and to my left, measuring my life against other men, and quietly coming to the same conclusion: I’m failing. I’m not enough. I’m not worthy.
Through the heartbreak of divorce and financial distress, God taught me this truth: In Him, I’m exactly the guy He has created me to be.
You Are Not a Lesser Version of Another Man
From the very beginning, God makes something clear about you and me. In Genesis 1:26, we see the truth that we are made in the image of God. Not in the image of another man we admire. Not in the image of the guy I’ve compared myself to. In His image.
And Psalm 139 makes it even more personal. You and I are fearfully and wonderfully made. God formed us. He knit us together. He saw every one of our days before one of them came to be.
There is nothing accidental about us. Ephesians 2:10 brings it home. We are His workmanship (some translations call us His masterpiece!). His creation. Designed on purpose, for a purpose, to walk in the good works He prepared in advance for us.
Not for someone else. For you. For me.
We are not less than. We are not disqualified. We are not a mistake.
You and I are exactly the men God created us to be. We have a unique purpose divinely assigned by God. And if we don’t believe these biblical truths, we will spend our lives trying to become someone He didn’t create us to be. And we’ll live defeated.
You Were Uniquely Gifted for a Reason
It’s not just that you were uniquely created with a unique purpose. You were also uniquely gifted.
In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul paints a picture that every Christian guy needs to understand. He says the body is made up of many parts, but it’s still one body. Different parts, different roles, different functions. But all essential. And all equal.
And then he makes it personal. God didn’t randomly assign your gifts. He didn’t overlook you. 1 Corinthians 12:18 says that God has arranged the parts of the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be.
That includes you. You are not an extra. You are not optional. You are not a backup plan. You are a necessary part of what God is building.
Think about your own body for a second. If one part stops functioning the way it was designed to, the whole body feels it. Maybe it’s not visible at first, but over time, everything is affected.
The same is true in the Body of Christ.
When you hold back… when you stay on the sidelines… when you convince yourself that your gifts don’t matter or you just don’t have time… you’re not just limiting your own life.
You’re robbing the church, the body of Christ.
Every part matters. Every role matters. Every gift matters.
1 Corinthians 12:27 says, “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
Each one. Not the most talented. Not the most visible. Each one.
Your role is to step fully into how God has wired you and use it for His glory and for the good of others. To serve the church and others.
Because when you do, the body becomes what it was meant to be. And when you don’t, the body of Christ isn’t firing on all cylinders.
Stop Wearing Armor That Was Never Meant for You
In 1 Samuel 17, David steps up to face Goliath while everyone else is paralyzed with fear.
Before he goes out, Saul offers him his armor. It’s the best equipment available. Proven. Strong. What a king would wear.
David tries it on. And then he takes it off. Why?
Because it wasn’t his. It didn’t fit.
You and I are doing the same thing every time we compare ourselves to another man. We’re putting on armor that doesn’t fit.
We’re trying to live with someone else’s calling, someone else’s gifts, someone else’s wiring. And it’s exhausting us. Take it off. You don’t need it.
David walked into the biggest fight of his life with a sling and five stones. And that was enough. Not because the tools were impressive. But because they were exactly what God had given him.
God has given you your own slingshot and stones. He’s given you a unique purpose, one that’s different from mine and every other guy in the world. But just as important. This is truth.
It’s Time to Decide
At some point, we have to decide.
You can keep wearing someone else’s armor. Keep comparing. Keep doubting. Keep telling yourself you’re not enough. Stay on the sidelines. And keep living discouraged and defeated.
Or you can make a different choice.
To believe what God says about you. To stop looking sideways. To take off the armor that isn’t yours. And to finally live the life He has uniquely designed you to live.
You are already the man God created you to be. The question is whether you’ll finally believe it. And live like it. Starting today. The church needs you.
Reflection and Action
Where are you currently comparing yourself to other men, and what lie are you believing because of it?
In what areas of your life do you feel “not enough” or unqualified? What does God’s Word say instead?
What “armor” are you trying to wear that doesn’t fit who God created you to be?
How can you begin to utilize your talents and gifts in the church, for God’s glory and others’ good?
