✝️ Representing the King

🔥Mr. Ambassador, your post is calling

In partnership with

Good morning, my brothers! There is a common refrain among many of us in the MTM fraternity: we’re still looking for the role in God’s kingdom that He wants us to play. What if I told you that you do have a role in the kingdom, clearly defined, and it’s BIG? Interested? Let’s go!

This week: 4-minute, 37-second read

🔥 If you missed our Digital Campfire with Sam Perossa last week, you can watch the recording. The link is below! Trust me, it’s worth the time 🔥

PURPOSE
Representing The King

Childhood Dreams

Do you remember the big dreams you had as a kid?

I have pictures of a 5-year-old me dressed up in a space suit buried away somewhere. And it wasn’t Halloween. I’d wear that costume everywhere, imagining I was one of the brave Apollo astronauts. My sister and my cousins still remember me wearing that space suit, and we smile about it often.

I still dream. I think my dream job now would be U.S. Ambassador to Bermuda. That would be amazing. Representing America as the top diplomat in a beautiful foreign country that never seems to have any controversy or stress. Great weather, stunning beaches. I’m sure a fantastic residence and embassy.

Pomp and circumstance with seemingly little pressure. I like that concept - a lot.

(Note to the President: If asked and nominated, I would gladly take one for the team and serve, moving the family to Bermuda. If any of you know him, please pass my name on.)

Grown-Up Realities

But I’m pretty sure it’s not in the cards for me in Bermuda. The closest I’ll probably come to the State Department was a tour of that vaunted institution with my friend J.P.. After his military service, this retired Marine fighter pilot became a diplomat. He took my son and me behind the scenes - into the world of diplomacy, discipline, and duty.

Over lunch, J.P. told us what it meant to represent the United States in a foreign land. Every word, every interaction, every handshake reflected the President. J.P. had no public opinions, no personal social media, and no freedom to freelance. His job was to speak not for himself, but for the one who sent him, the Commander-in-Chief.

It struck me: what a responsibility to carry another’s voice so faithfully.

The Moment It Hit Me: I Already Am an Ambassador

A few weeks later, I was studying 2 Corinthians 5 when this verse stopped me cold:

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.”

It hit me like a wave. I already have my dream job. I am an ambassador! You already are, too. Every man who belongs to Jesus Christ has been sent into this world to represent the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Not as a hobby. Not as a side mission. But as a full-time assignment as the King of kings’ ambassador..

You and I shouldn’t speak for ourselves. We should speak on His behalf. Our words, our work ethic, our attitudes, our relationships, they all send a message about the One we represent.

Paul says in Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” That means the old me doesn’t get the mic anymore. My life belongs to Him. My opinions, my reactions, my influence, all of it is part of my ambassadorship.

On Assignment: Living with Purpose in a Foreign Land

If we genuinely believe we’re Christ’s ambassadors, we stop seeing life as random and start seeing it as intentional. Every moment becomes an opportunity, every conversation a chance to reflect the King.

Peter said, “We are strangers and exiles in this world.” (1 Peter 2:11) We don’t belong here, but we are stationed here, on mission. That means our homes, workplaces, churches, gyms, and communities are embassies of Heaven. Wherever we walk, the Kingdom touches earth.

And like any good ambassador, we don’t set policy; we live it out. Our job isn’t to adjust Christ’s message to fit culture, but to live it so clearly that others catch a glimpse of His grace and truth, and fall in love with Jesus.

Prepared and Grounded: Always Ready to Give an Answer

Peter also wrote, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” (1 Peter 3:15)

That’s the mindset of an ambassador: readiness. Not to debate, but to demonstrate. Our lives should raise questions that only Jesus can answer.

When men see peace in your storms, hope in your losses, or joy in your humility, they’ll ask why. And when they do, you’ll be ready, not with lofty words, but with the quiet confidence of someone who knows his King and His Word.

Ambassadors don’t panic under pressure. They remember Who sent them and the authority behind their mission.

Salt and Light: Living So the World Takes Notice

Jesus told us plainly: “You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:13–14)

Salt seasons and preserves. Light reveals and guides. Both matter only when they’re applied.

When you bring integrity to your workplace, tenderness to your marriage, patience to your parenting, and hope to your conversations, you season your surroundings with the flavor of Heaven. When you shine courage into dark corners of culture, your light becomes a living sermon.

The darker the world grows, the more powerful even a flicker of light becomes.

Sharing the Message: God’s Appeal Through You

In the middle of 2 Corinthians 5:20, Paul says God is making His appeal through us. Let that sink in. You are His microphone, His living letter to a watching world.

The message we carry isn’t condemnation, it’s reconciliation. God isn’t shouting “Get it together!” He’s whispering, “Come home.” Every time you forgive, serve, encourage, or speak the truth in love, you’re echoing that appeal.

Romans 10:14 reminds us: “How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?” You and I are the voice that carries that message.

The Mission: Imploring the World to Be Reconciled to God

Our purpose couldn’t be clearer: “We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)

That word implore carries urgency. It’s not passive. It’s not timid. It’s the heartbeat of a man who knows eternity matters.

We don’t coerce people into faith; we invite them to it. We don’t manipulate, we model. We don’t pursue religion; we live relationship.

When the world sees men who love their families, serve their communities, and walk in peace that defies logic, they see the evidence of reconciliation. They see Christ through us.

The Final Charge: Represent Him Well

My brothers, this is the calling of a lifetime. To live as ambassadors of the King, bold, faithful, humble, and ready. To speak truth with conviction and love without condition.

When you leave your house, you’re not just going to work; you’re stepping into your mission field. When you open your mouth, you’re either clarifying or clouding the message of the Kingdom. Let’s represent Him well.

We carry the greatest message ever entrusted to man: that through Jesus Christ, sinners can be reconciled to God.

So stand ready. Speak boldly. Love deeply.

Because the King you represent has entrusted His reputation to you, Mr. Ambassador.

Reflection & Action Questions

  1. Where in your life are you living as a true ambassador of Christ, and where are you still representing yourself instead of your King?

  2. How can you be more intentional this week about seeing your home, workplace, church, or friendships as your “mission field”?

  3. What opportunities do you have right now to speak truth in love or share your hope in Christ? What’s holding you back from doing so?

  4. Who in your life needs to hear God’s invitation to be reconciled to Him, and how can you begin that conversation?

  5. What one action will you take this week to represent Jesus more faithfully, in your attitude, your words, or your leadership?
