Good morning, my brothers! A few years ago, God asked me to do something I didn’t feel qualified to do. I’m learning that obedience was never about being qualified. Guess what? he has an assignment for you, too. Let’s go! A 48-second read.

A few years ago, God made it clear He wanted me writing this newsletter. I told Him He had the wrong guy, and felt like Moses at the burning bush, making every excuse I could.
He said that was the point. He wasn't looking for a writer. He was looking for a pen to write through. I stepped out in faith, and 10 days later the first article was emailed out to 6 men.
For once, I joined God in what He was doing…rather than asking Him to join my grand plan…and was ready when He asked.
Four Months of Silence
Nehemiah heard the news about Jerusalem's broken walls and did the opposite of what I usually do. He didn't immediately take action. He wept, fasted, and prayed for months before he spoke to the king who could help him.
Then, God moved. When the king finally asked, Nehemiah didn't fumble. He shot up one more prayer on the spot, then gave a specific answer he'd already worked out with God in private.
“If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.”
Four months of quiet prayer, and one bold ask the moment God opened the door.
I Wrote It Because He Asked
I've written a book, too, and it releases on October 13th. I wrote it because He told me to. I can't control who reads it. One man or a thousand, the number was never my assignment. The obedience was. Here's the cover. You're the first to see it outside the men who picked it.
The subtitle tells the story men will find throughout the book.
You Have a Book Too
Yours might not be literal. Maybe it's a conversation you keep avoiding, or a costly yes you've postponed for years because you don't feel qualified or it’s seemingly too costly.
You don't need to feel ready. I wasn't. Nor was Nehemiah. He was a cupbearer, not a builder, who obeyed the day the door opened. And God takes care of the results.
Like Nehemiah, I'm asking boldly for what only God can do. Father, prepare the heart of every man You want to read the book. Show me all You want me to do to get it in front of him.
